It
can be dangerous to use swimming pool steps that are not properly maintained
or were not properly built in the first place.
Some of the most dangerous steps are those that are thin. Because they
are thin, it is hard to get a good footing on the steps. This results
in an increased likelihood that whoever is on the steps may slip and
fall.
Equally dangerous as those that are narrow are the steps that are smooth.
Even though a smooth step may feel a bit nicer on the skin of your feet,
that is little consolation after you have slipped off the step and find
yourself with one leg protruding through a rung in the ladder.
In order to avoid some of the dangers that can be associated with swimming
pool steps, it is best to look for a ladder that has steps that are
wide enough so that you can at least get most of your foot on it. Also,
safety can be increased by getting steps that are not completely smooth.
Having a sandpaper-like substance or even some small grooves on the
swimming pool steps is a great way to enhance the safety level.
