After
a day spent swimming, pool supplies and accessories are bound to be
strewn about the entire pool area. After all, where else might you put
all of the noodles, floats, goggles, and other pool toys and accessories?
You certainly don’t want to drag them into your living room or
even your front hall closet. Fortunately, there are organizers available
that are perfect for storing everything from pool noodles to chemicals.
• Raft Caddy – this basic storage device can be bought
or handmade with PVC piping (PVC is good to use because it is non-corroding).
Connect multiple vertical pieces of piping to one long horizontal piece
(with two perpendicular pieces at the end for balance). Slip floats
and noodles between the vertical pieces. Hang tubes over a vertical
piece. For added stability, have two separate PVC piping pieces lined
up together (i.e. to hold the front and end of a float).
• Noodle organizer – even simply binding all of the pool’s
noodles together with a bungee cord helps, but a specially made vertical
organizer is an excellent space saver that also keeps the noodles clean.
• Hooks and baskets – hooks are great for hanging up towels
or goggles. Baskets are great for organizing other pool supplies and
accessories, including balls, snorkels, etc. A good container can be
kept right by the pool and then moved to a shed or garage during the
off season.
• Shelving and locking containers – be very careful with
how you store and organize all of your pool chemicals. They must be
in tightly sealed containers, and they need to be properly labeled.
Keep them up on shelves to keep them away from small children and pets.
They should not be kept outside – keep them in a garage or shed.
The type of pool supplies and accessories that one owns greatly dictates
the type of storage needed. Keep in mind (before you go off and put
down a lot of money on a pool accessories organizer) that items you
have about the house may be perfect for storing and organizing pool
supplies.
