Pool
safety covers are only as effective as their anchoring systems and
construction. They are usually anchored to an inground pool using
a series of springs or hooks. This safety feature requires a good
amount of decking to make the anchoring safe.
They can be solid, but are usually made using strong netted or braided
mesh. Mesh is seen as ideal because it can drain water off the top
layer of the cover, stop someone from falling in your pool or slipping
under, and appear stylish (if you desire). They are also available
solar-powered, automatic, and in other convenient, labor-saving designs.
Safety covers can be purchased custom or pre-fabricated. If your
pool has a lot of built-in features such as stairs or diving boards,
you almost certainly will need a custom cover designed specifically
for your pool's needs. Often, your state or city might also have safety
requirements you should investigate and comply with. Most manufacturers
include specifications about decking requirements to install pool
safety covers.
