The
cost of installing pools and pool liners can be pricey. Therefore, it
is important to take proper care of them to make sure that the investment
lasts. Here are some tips for keeping the liners of pools clean and
looking good:
• Automatic pool cleaners – these can be excellent tools
to help you keep your pool clean, especially if you don’t have
the time to do it yourself. Of course, it is very important to find
cleaners that are designed specifically for pool liners. Ones that are
made for cement pools, for instance, could potentially damage a vinyl
liner.
• Quality of accessories – liners can be worn down by pool
items like ladders that are not properly taken care of. A ladder should
have rubber guards to keep it from cutting through the liner.
• Keep the water line clean – residue can accumulate at
the water line (think suntan oil and dirt).
• Cover it in the winter – during the winter months, if
the pool is not properly covered, debris can accumulate, decompose,
and stain or bleach the liner. Covering it when not in use in the summer
can prevent the sun from bleaching it, as well.
• Clean away stains – stains can be removed from pool liners
with a brush (designed for liners) and/or chlorine tablets. Ascorbic
acid is also good for removing stains. Look into using vitamin C tablets.
• Metal stains – if you think you have metal stains, try
a stain kit. If your brown stains are, indeed, from metal, try a product
like metal free to get rid of them.
Nobody wants pool liners that are stained or bleached – people
prefer liners that look as fresh, new, and exciting as the day they
were bought. Following the aforementioned tips can help keep pool liners
young.
