Before choosing a pool heater, it may be best to understand which kinds of heaters work best with which pools.

There are three basic kinds of heaters:

• Solar – These kinds of heaters are best for recreational use. They do a good job of helping to heat smaller to mid-size pools. But they may not work so well for the larger pools.
• Electric – These heaters are great for keeping the temperature inside of a pool between 80 and 90 degrees. In fact, even if it is 45 degrees outside of the pool, these heaters should be able to heat your pool enough to allow you to have a comfortable, relaxing swim.
• Gas – These heaters are best for use over a short period of time because it can cost quite a bit of money to constantly refill the fuel.

So, based on your needs, you can know be able to better choose which kind of pool heater is best.
