Above ground swimming pool covers are available in a wide price range, depending on the unique needs from pool to pool. All covers prevent excessive water and chemical loss from evaporation simply by covering the surface of the pool in between uses.

Above ground swimming pool covers come in three main styles:
• Safety covers – these are designed to prevent children or animals from falling into the pool while it is unsupervised. Safety covers are secured using a series of anchors or hooks.
• Solar covers – these soak up the sun's rays and return the heat to the pool water. They float freely on the surface of the water and are not so great at keeping leaves out. They are definitely not designed for safety.
• Winter covers – these protect the pool from weather elements in the off–season, but can also be used all year to prevent evaporation.

All types of above ground swimming pool covers are available in manual or automatic. Manual covers are pulled on and off by hand or a reel. Automatic covers unroll and replace with the push of a button. Some even feature remote controls. Remember, the more motorized and convenient a cover is, the more it will cost!
