Above
ground pool vacuums are an essential accessory for pool maintenance.
The type of vacuum or cleaner used depends on the pool's shape, texture,
sloping or bumpy floor. It is worth it to consult a trusted pool professional
or research the possibilities online before purchasing.
Above ground pool vacuums are automatic, or in some cases, manual.
Manual cleaners are less expensive than automatic ones, but it is a
popular option to have both. Automatic versions can be left unsupervised
to perform scrubbing and vacuuming duties. Manufacturers will specify
if a vacuum is designed for an above ground pool or inground, or both.
Above ground pool vacuums are available in three main types of cleaner:
• Suction – this is the most common style. It usually functions
as a skimmer in concert with the pool pump and filter system. Above
ground versions are less expensive than their inground counterparts.
• Pressure – this style is also fairly common and functions
using water pressure. Some prefer this method because it doesn't draw
power from the pool pump and filter system.
• Electric – also called "robotic", these must
be plugged into an electrical outlet, but feature a self–contained
pump and filter system and other luxury items such as remote controls.
For this reason, they are the most expensive type.
