Even
though there are a variety of above ground pool heaters, one of the
most popular and cost-efficient types are those that run on solar
power.
The solar energy that heats pools works on the same principle as
a water hose does when it has been lying out in the hot, summer sun.
What is the first thing that happens when the water comes from the
hose? It is hot.
In the case of a solar heater, the sun’s energy is used to
heat the water that is collected from the pool and pumped throughout
the heating system and then back into the pool.
Using solar above ground pool heaters can help raise the temperature
of a pool by more than 15 degrees, but the rate at which the temperature
accelerates depends a lot on how warm the sun is shining on a particular
day. In order to increase the full 15 or 20 degrees, this process
could take a few days.
Another variable is the use of a pool cover. If you have solar above
ground pool heaters and you decide to use a pool cover as well, chances
are that you will be able to collect and trap so much heat that the
pool could get even warmer than 20 degrees higher.
